This game-ready model features a textured, skinned, and rigged airplane, complete with a Maya file containing a character set for easier animation. It comprises 7 meshes, 77 hull joints, and 35 weapon joints. The FBX file is ready for import into game engines like Unity. A separate Maya file featuring a quick take-off animation is also available. Textures are optimized for PBR rendering with sizes up to 4096. In the late 2020's, there was a demand for a next-generation dedicated ground attack fixed-wing aircraft due to the failure of multi-task airplanes like the F-35. The Army prioritized survivability, weapons flexibility, and STOVL capability in this new requirement. The Boomerang's distinctive shape is attributed to the addition of a second engine nacelle to counter the enormous recoil of its Bofors 40mm 8-barrel "Big Bertha" Gatling cannon. It stores 800 rounds internally and is paired with a 60mm CF-HVIP "Gunny" cannon in the mid-wing section for minimal collateral damage. The Boomerang's standard weapon loadout includes AGM 97 Uragan missiles, AT-33 Fury missiles, LOAR 98 Horsefly cruise missiles, short-range Swift 8 heat-seeking missiles, and a large external fuel tank for extended range. Sensors include the Sniper Laser/TV target designator pod, IRST for passive target acquisition, and CAPTOR-E AESA radar in the right engine nacelle. Defensive features include flare dispensers, ECM pods, radar warning receivers, a laser warning receiver, and a titanium bathtub cockpit capable of withstanding significant damage. The Boomerang uses a lift-fan and directed thrust for STOVL capabilities, allowing it to perform vertical landing and takeoff maneuvers. In emergencies, the aircraft can jettison all external weapon pylons and fuel tanks, transforming into a nimble, supersonic-capable machine with a top speed of Mach 1.2. However, its top speed is limited by the shape of its air inlets and large foreign object filters.
