Hi! This design took home the "Most Creative Design" prize in this contest, thanks to all who participated. Check out my Nerf Dart Compatible Gun (elite), Powered By Air Pressure! Slide the Barrel 4 until it's attached to the trigger, and get ready for a blast! Let me know if you want other dart sizes. I hope you enjoy printing this design and having fun with it! Here are the good things about my design: 1. It fires really strongly. 2. Almost all of it is made up of 3D printed parts – about 99%. 3. The full weight after assembly (with screws&nuts+2xcable ties+balloon) is less than 180g. This depends on how durable/stiff you want it to be. 4. It's great for kids to learn simple mechanics and have fun at the same time. You can print the parts in different colors, depending on your preference or that of your kid! 5. Save money! There are no expensive parts to buy – probably just about $1 if you don't already have them at home! Here's what you'll need: 1. 12x m3/10mm screws (10mm with the cap/flat head), 12x m3 nuts, 1x m2/20mm screw. 2. One big rigid balloon – feel free to experiment with different sizes! 3. 2x cable tie. You can view and explode the model in 3D here: http://a360.co/2d06jCi *The parts that need support are only: Trigger, Spring, Barrel 4, Front grip. *The parts that need to be strong with good infill are: Back base, Front base, Trigger, Trigger Extension, the plate of the Front grip. Otherwise, you can make everything zero infill if you want. *Notes: -I had to use 20mm screws instead of 10mm because I lost my bag – but it still works great! -The test in the video was the first one ever made, and it shows just how strong it is! Even the back cap separated due to the pressure (the glue wasn't dry yet). It was a really powerful shot despite the dart being tight in the barrel. I re-designed the cap so it doesn't separate anymore. The assembly process is easy: 1. Put the barrels inside each other, then put the cap on and glue it in place – updated version. 2. Cut the balloon bottom (the big area) and fit it into the big barrel with a cable tie. 3. Slide them into the base and secure the other balloon end to the front aimer using another cable tie. 4. Put the three trigger parts together with an m2/20mm screw, then put them under the base in the place with two m3 screws and nuts. 5. The rest of the parts use m3 screws and nuts. 6. Finally, push the back aimer into its place – it fits tightly. Assembly notes: -The front grip plate should be printed as strongly as possible (it doesn't matter for the grip itself). You can do multi-infill settings in Simplify3D or other slicers. -The back aimer should be printed without infill to save plastic. -If your printer can print large parts, combine the front base and back base together and print them in one piece. I used 50% infill and 3 layers shell. -Print all the parts in the orientation I made – unless you know what you're doing! And don't forget to have good bed-adhesion for long parts. -The trigger meddle hole shouldn't be tight on the m2 screw. -The barrels and all the parts fit perfectly if your printer prints accurately. Otherwise, you can play with the settings in your slicer and/or use sanding papers. I'll continue to improve and update this design. Have fun and let me know what you think! Feel free to ask questions at any time!
