This is an initial sketch of my DIY book scanner plan frame concept. Please note that this design is purely conceptual and not intended for actual production. To simplify the build process, consider constructing the frame using PVC pipes from your local home improvement store and cutting boards from a retailer like Bed Bath & Beyond. Pivot joints will be the most challenging aspect to achieve durability, but you can utilize skate bearings on a rod threaded through the upper frame, heim joints, or even offset hinges. To further enhance the design, I recommend adding counterweight to the back of the upper frame until you've achieved a weightless unit that includes the platten.
