I am currently building a book scanner project that utilizes easy-to-find and assemble parts from my local hardware store - except for the electronics components. I decided against using plastic for the platter that holds the pages together, opting instead for glass sheets available at my nearby hardware store, which can be easily acquired without requiring any bending or deformation. This design choice also enables me to create a portable book scanner that quickly disassembles into a compact briefcase, making it ideal for use with family history books and libraries.
