The Tome of the Vishanti holds within its ancient pages the most potent incantations of white magic, numerous counterspells designed to counterbalance rival magical disciplines. The tome itself appears to be boundless in its volume, as if its contents are without end. Its spells can deflect any incoming magical assault, but can only be used for defensive purposes, never to launch a counterattack. The Tome bears the unmistakable Seal of the Vishanti. The tome was inscribed in Babylon millennia before the dawn of the 20th century. It fell into the hands of priests devoted to Marduk, who secured it with a fearsome griffin sentinel. The sorcerer Yao, also known as the Ancient One, discovered the tome and, after vanquishing the beast guardian, was revealed to be the destined possessor, as foretold by an ancient prophecy etched in fiery letters.
