I noticed a severe lack of good bonsai planter 3D models, so I decided to start designing some and sharing them. Using supports is highly recommended when printing these designs, as well as choosing a waterproof filament such as ASA or PETG. ASA is a durable plastic used in lawn sprinkler heads and car cup holders, while PETG is the same material found in soda bottles. Both options are great for outdoor use due to their resistance to sunlight damage. If you do decide to use PLA, consider increasing the infill percentage to slow down degradation when exposed to sunlight. As any experienced bonsai grower will attest, plants benefit greatly from direct sunlight and should not be confined indoors exclusively. When using PLA, be aware that it can become brittle with exposure to water and sunlight, so printing spare parts may be a good idea if you plan on repotting your trees frequently. Newcomers to 3D printing may find it helpful to know that ASA behaves similarly to ABS, requiring a heated bed and insulated enclosure for optimal results. As for PETG, I've learned that it demands higher temperatures to print well, unlike PLA. In the near future, I plan on creating more designs based on user requests, so feel free to suggest new ideas or shapes you'd like me to model. I'm open to collaboration and may even provide free models if the concept isn't too complex. If you're not comfortable sharing your idea publicly, my email address is available for private contact.
