Bonsai Mobius Mini + TX02 Mount

Bonsai Mobius Mini + TX02 Mount

thingiverse

This mount fits perfectly on the Turnigy Bonsai flying wing, allowing it to hold a Mobius Mini and Eachine TX02 FPV camera in place at the front of the wing. There are two versions available - one has been rotated to improve its appearance on Thingiverse, while the other is the original export from Fusion 360. The central hole enables easy mounting of the Mobius with its metal heat-sink/camera mount attached for effective cooling. It also prevents the Mobius from sliding backwards, although using velcro makes this unnecessary. When printed in PLA as specified below, it weighs approximately 8 grams. Efforts have been made to minimize extra plastic while maintaining sufficient rigidity. The unique design ensures that the Mobius can only see a small portion of the wing's tip and the FPV camera cannot see the wing at all when mounted. However, this results in an angle that allows the Mobius to face straight ahead during flight. Mounting Tips ============= To secure the mount on the Bonsai, 3mm cable ties are used. The two front cable tie holes are positioned above the forward slot in the plywood battery mount, allowing the cable tie to run over the battery strap and back up. The rear cable ties pass through the foam, while the battery strap runs underneath them to enable the battery to be mounted slightly rearward, which helps fix the center of gravity (see notes below). FPV Battery Placement ===================== The TX02 FPV battery is placed behind the COG before the motor, effectively offsetting the weight of the Mobius and FPV camera. Center of Gravity ================ Using this mount with a Mobius will result in nose-heaviness on the Bonsai. To counteract this, moving the battery back by 10mm has been implemented, as shown. The effectiveness may vary depending on individual circumstances. Notes ===== * Pictures depict an older version that was heavier. * I'm using 850mah, 3S flight batteries for approximately 8 minutes of flight time. * I'm employing 750mah 1s FPV batteries for around 30 minutes of FPV time. * The combined weight of the TX02 and battery is approximately 31 grams, while the combined weight of a TS5823 transmitter, aerial, and camera (excluding mount) is about 40 grams. This configuration offers an unexpectedly lighter option, plus it doesn't consume the flight battery. * The range on the TX02 (200mW) is impressive, allowing me to fly the Bonsai out of sight while still maintaining good reception. * I'm utilizing a Mobius Mini B with a 135-degree lens. * Cable tie holes have recessed channels for the ties to pass through.
