Bonsai Branch Tensioner
thingiverse
This is a hook and and rope clip to attach a small nylon string from a bonsai's drip tray to a branch, to pull it down into a training position. 1. To install, cut off an appropriate length of string. 2. Tie a knot in one end and fish the string through the hole in the hook. 3. Tie a knot in the other end, and fish it through the two holes in the clip, around the tree limb, and then hook the other knot into the grove in the clip. 4. Adjust the string position in the clip to increase or decrease tension and position of the branch. This assumes you're using a drip tray or planter than has something the hook can latch onto, such as a downturned rim. If you're planning to leave this outside, I'd recommend printing in ASA or similar filament that can withstand the elements. Otherwise, if it's going to stay inside, print in PLA should be fine. I normally use this in combination with a small piece of foam placed between the string and the branch, to ensure the string doesn't cut into the branch.
