Bone Fitting, Edinburgh Castle

This object's double iron rivets at the head reveal that it was likely attached to another item, probably wood. It may have served as a decorative fitting for a wooden or bone casket. Similar bronze items have been found, including one from London dating back around 1350-1400. We uncovered this object during archaeological excavations at Edinburgh Castle between 1989 and 1991.
