The Bombo Quarry has been reconstructed using UAV footage, revealing the early Permian Bumbo Latite lava flow overlaying the Kiama Sandstone. The contact between the two rock formations is typically flat and sloping gently to the north, but in some areas it's been disrupted by peperites, which are formed when lava flows over a wet sand surface.
