Originally conceived and built by Bombardier of Canada, this joint partnership for manufacturing with France's Airbus has taken shape. This aircraft was engineered to accommodate 100 to 133 seats in various configurations. Its maiden flight took place in September 2013, marking a significant milestone. The CS-100 entered commercial service with Swiss Global Airlines and Air Baltic in 2016. In 2018, Airbus secured a 50.1 percent stake in the C Series of aircraft. Two years later, Airbus opened a second assembly plant in Mobile, Alabama to manufacture the Airbus A220-100 and its variants.
