Bolt filament feeder
thingiverse
An innovative extruder feeder is designed using a bolt directly attached to the stepper motor. The bolt serves as a friction holder, adjustable for tension on the filament. Print bolt_feeder_base.stl, then join with four 3mm bolts. Brackets can be added at bolt holes, and the filament exits from the model's center, facilitating attachment to other extruder brackets. Still to model are mounting brackets for hot ends and stepper motors along with a connector joining the stepper motor to the bolt head. The creator was motivated by clogging issues in traditional feeders and developed this design without requiring extra metal parts. The initial model considered M8 thread depths, while updates adjusted circle radiuses and enclosure for better support. The openSCAD file allows customization of bolt length, diameter, and filament diameter.
