Bokken Scabbard
thingiverse
This is a custom sheath/scabbard for a bokken training sword designed specifically for swords 40'' and under. The project requires several key components: Sheath Mk1, Sheath Mk2, Sheath Mk3, Krazy Glue or a Soldering Iron, sandpaper, wood stain, and wood/metal finish. To construct the full scabbard/sheath: First, print out two of Sheath Mk1. Next, print Sheath Mk2 and Mk3. Then, slide the pieces onto the bokken in the order of Mk1, Mk2, Mk1, and Mk3, ensuring each piece aligns with the sword's curves and edges. Use Krazy Glue and/or a Soldering Iron to secure the pieces together, but do not glue the sword to the scabbard. Optional steps include sanding down the scabbard using sandpaper or applying wood stain if you used Wood PLA. If you applied wood stain, wait for it to dry before adding a wood/metal finish. For a small back scabbard: Print Sheath Mk1 and tie a rope or string around the piece, or make a hole in Sheath Mk1 and secure it over your shoulder. Optional steps include sanding down the scabbard or applying wood stain if you used Wood PLA. If working with a bokken under 40'' or larger than 50-35'', adjust the Z-axis height of Sheath Mk1 in your slicing software accordingly. To decorate the sword, burn or drill a hole in the scabbard and tie a rope through it. Good luck with this project! If cracks appear due to rapid drying of the wood finish or other reasons, open up the cracks and extrude extra filament to seal them.
