Boing magic box
thingiverse
When I was a kid I had a hilarious toy that's been stuck in my head for ages, now it's finally time to give it another chance and create one for my nephew. It featured a suction cup on its underside and a spring attached to the suction cup. When you place the suction cup on a table, it holds the spring in place for a few seconds before releasing and causing the entire toy to jump up - it was incredibly funny! I started wondering what if we could make anything jump at will? That's when I designed this box that contains a suction cup and a methacrylate disc to ensure the suction cup adheres well. You can use any smooth plastic surface with a 3mm height and 34mm radius, or try printing one using your printer while keeping the mirror-like face facing upwards - but it's not recommended. Don't use crystal, though. This box has an upper compartment where you can place whatever you want to be launched into the air. Simply press down on the compartment to make the suction cup stick and wait a bit for it to be launched - it's like having your very own magic trick! You can use it as a funny joke by placing something inside that will eventually fly away whenever it feels like it. When you no longer need something, let the magic box take care of getting rid of it for you... or simply use it as a vase without pressing down on the suction cup, although I'm sure you'll end up pressing it down a lot of times!
