As a long-range, six-engine jet bomber, the Boeing B-47 Stratojet was designed to fly at high speeds and altitudes, primarily tasked with dropping nuclear bombs on the Soviet Union. The first B-47A delivery occurred in 1950, serving only for evaluation purposes. Distinctive features of the B-47B include two jettisonable external tanks and nose windows, with a total of 399 built.
