The Boeing KC-135E Stratotanker is a highly versatile military air refueling aircraft engineered from the same original prototype used to design the Boeing 707-130. It was the world's first jet-powered air refueling aircraft when it entered service with the United States Air Force in 1957. Almost sixty years have passed since this aircraft became part of the USAF fleet, a remarkable feat that puts it in the league of only six military planes serving over five decades without interruption. Despite being replaced by the KC-10 and ultimately the upcoming KC46 Pegasus, the Boeing KC-135E remains the primary type of air refueling tanker flown by the USAF to this day.
