The Boeing KC-135E Stratotanker is a military jet-powered air refueling aircraft designed from the same prototype aircraft as the Boeing 707-130. As the first air refueling aircraft powered by jets, it entered service with the United States Air Force in 1957. Almost 60 years have passed since its introduction into continuous service with the USAF. The KC-135E is one of six military aircraft to remain in continuous use for more than 50 years. It serves as the primary air refueling tanker flown by the USAF, though it is supplemented by the KC-10 and will be replaced by the KC-46 Pegasus.
