Boeing B-47E
grabcad
The Boeing B-47E Stratojet, an American long-range strategic bomber, was designed for high subsonic speed and altitude flight to avoid enemy interceptors. With six engines housed in underwing nacelles, it was a significant post-WWII combat jet innovation that influenced modern airliner design. The B-47 entered SAC's service in 1951 but never experienced combat as a bomber; instead, it constituted a major part of the command's bomber force until the early '60s and continued as a bomber until 1965. It also served in roles such as photographic reconnaissance, electronic intelligence, and weather reconnaissance, remaining active in these capacities until 1969 and 1977 respectively.
