The Boeing 747, also known as the Jumbo Jet or Queen of the Skies, is a wide-body commercial airliner and cargo transport aircraft. It was the first wide-body produced and remains one of the world's most recognizable aircraft. Manufactured by Boeing in the US, its original version had double the capacity of the 1960s' common large commercial plane, the Boeing 707. First commercially flown in 1970, it held the passenger capacity record for 37 years. The unit costs have varied from $24 million (1967) for the 747-100 to $352 million for the 747-8F.
