It's available in various formats. The Boeing 747-100, the first jumbo jet to carry close to 500 passengers, made its maiden flight in 1969 and entered service in 1970. For 37 years, it held the record for passenger seating until the A380's debut, while also being the world's largest passenger jet during that time. As the first of the Boeing 747 series, this iconic aircraft could accommodate up to 550 passengers in a single-class configuration and was more than twice the size of its predecessor, the Boeing 707-320. The 747's evolution continued with the -200, -300, -400, and most recently, the -800 or -8I variants. This aircraft boasts a cruising range of over 5,000 miles and a top speed above 550 mph at an altitude of 35,000 feet. The different versions offer progressively enhanced capabilities in terms of cruise, payload, and range.
