The original Boeing 747-100 was the first jumbo jet that carried nearly 500 passengers and made its maiden flight in 1969, entering service a year later. For 37 years it held the record for passenger seating before being surpassed by the A380. Manufactured by Boeing, this aircraft was the first of the 747 series and could carry up to 550 passengers in a single class configuration. It was over two and a half times larger than the next biggest Boeing transport, the 707-320. In a standard two-class arrangement, it carried 452 passengers while 366 passengers could be accommodated with a three-class setup. The 747-100 was introduced around the same time as the DC-10 and L-1011 Tristar, but its size set it apart from its contemporaries for 37 years. Subsequent versions include the -200, -300, -400, and the latest -800 or -8I version. With a cruising range of over 5000 miles and a speed of over 550 mph at 35,000 feet, this iconic aircraft has seen improvements in cruise, payload, and range with each new iteration. This model is built to scale, fully textured, and includes multiple animatable features like flaps, ailerons, elevators, rudder, landing gear, landing gear doors, and turbines. It's available for download in various formats for your convenience.
