Known as the Boeing 737 Classic, the -300/-400/-500 series emerged after the launch of the -600/700/800/900 series, originally dubbed the 'new generation' of this airliner. Launched in 1981 by USAir and Southwest Airlines, the Boeing 737-300 marked the beginning of the Classic series. Manufactured from 1984 to 2000, a total of 1,988 aircraft were delivered within this period.
