It closely resembles the Boeing 737, a short- to medium-range twinjet narrow-body airliner. The 737-300 was launched in 1981 by USAir and Southwest Airlines, initiating the 737 Classic series. This series, also referred to as the -300/-400/-500 models, succeeded the original Boeing 737 lineup after the introduction of the -600/700/800/900 versions.
