The Boeing 737 is a short- to medium-range twinjet narrow-body airliner. Launched in 1981 by USAir and Southwest Airlines, the 737-300 marked the beginning of the 737 Classic series. Also known as the 'new generation' of the 737, the Classic series consisted of -300/-400/-500 models, which were later succeeded by the -600/700/800/900 series. Manufactured from 1984 to 2000, a total of 1,988 aircraft were delivered within this series.
