Launched in 1981 by USAir and Southwest Airlines, the 737-300 marked the start of the 737 Classic series. Comprising the -300/-400/-500 variants, the Classic series was dubbed the 'new generation' of 737 aircraft. Manufactured from 1984 to 2000, a total of 1,988 units were delivered before the introduction of subsequent -600/700/800/900 series models.
