The Boeing 737 is a short- to medium-range twinjet aircraft in the narrow-body category. Launched in 1981 by both USAir and Southwest Airlines, the 737-300 marked the beginning of the Classic series. As part of the 737 lineage, the Classic series (consisting of -300/-400/-500 models) was originally dubbed the 'new generation' before the introduction of the -600/700/800/900 series. Manufactured from 1984 to 2000, a total of 1,988 aircraft were delivered during this period.
