The Boeing 737 is a compact, high-performance twinjet narrow-body airliner capable of traveling medium ranges. In fact, its first incarnation as the model 737-100 was launched in 1965. After making its grand debut on the global aviation scene, it began operating commercial services with Lufthansa back in February 1968. As the smallest variant within its class, this particular airliner has only ever managed to garner an order for 30 of the model 737-100 units - a total which stood even as it finally completed its final delivery to Malaysia–Singapore Airlines on October 31st of that same year, marking the end of its extensive commercial service era. Since then, however, all existing examples have disappeared from mainstream usage; what remains are remnants such as Boeing's prototype aircraft now held for public exhibition at Seattle's esteemed Museum of Flight – more than three decades after it initially took flight and following years under active service by NASA before finally resting into well-deserved retirement.
