The Boeing 717-200 was a variant of the MD-95 by Boeing after acquiring McDonnell Douglas. Designed for smaller capacities (106-134 passengers), it had a standard range of 1430 nautical miles, while the high gross weight version reached 2060 nmi with auxiliary tanks. The 717 number was reused from old KC-135 tankers. Produced from 1999 to 2006, the Boeing 717 faced competition from Embraer and Bombardier Regional Jets, which led to reduced sales, cancelled orders, and eventual production closure. Powered by JT8D-217C or JT8D-219 engines with 20,000 lbf or 21,000 lbf thrust, respectively, the Boeing 717 was the last narrow single aisle jetliner produced by Boeing.
