The Boeing 717-200 was a variant of McDonnell Douglas MD-95 jet commercial airliners, produced after Boeing's acquisition of McDonnell Douglas. Designed for smaller capacity (106 to 134 passengers) with a maximum of 134 based on passenger exit capability, it had a standard range of 1430 nautical miles. The high gross weight version featured auxiliary tanks, extending its range to 2060 nautical miles. Boeing rebranded this aircraft by using the model number from old KC-135 tankers (Boeing model 717-100). In production from 1999 to 2006, it faced competition from Embraer and Bombardier Regional Jets, which led to order cancellations and eventual closure of production. Powered by a pair of JT8D-217C or JT8D-219 engines (20,000 lbf or 21,000 lbf thrust), the Boeing 717 was the last narrow single-aisle jetliner produced by Boeing.
