The Boeing 717-200 was a variant of the McDonnell Douglas MD-95 jet commercial airliners, produced following Boeing's acquisition of McDonnell Douglas. Designed for smaller capacities of 106 to 134 passengers, it had a maximum capacity of 134 based on passenger exit capability. The standard version boasted a range of 1430 nautical miles, while the ER (high gross weight) variant featured auxiliary tanks that increased its range to 2060 nmi. The Boeing 717-200 rebranding was marked by the reuse of the original Boeing 717 model number from the KC-135 tankers. These aircraft were in production from 1999 until 2006, but faced declining sales due to competition from Embraer and Bombardier Regional Jets.
