The Boeing 717-200 was a variant of McDonnell Douglas MD-95 jet commercial airliners produced after Boeing's acquisition of McDonnell Douglas. It had a smaller capacity, carrying 106 to 134 passengers and up to 134 based on exit capability. The standard version had a range of 1430 nautical miles, while the ER (high gross weight) variant featured auxiliary tanks for a range of 2060 nmi. Boeing rebranded the aircraft using the old KC-135 tanker's model number, which was 717-100. It was in production from 1999 to 2006, but faced competition from Embraer and Bombardier Regional Jets, leading to canceled orders and ultimately closing productions. Powered by a pair of 20,000 lbf or 21,000 lbf thrust JT8D-217C/JT8D-219 engines, the Boeing 717 was the last narrow single-aisle jetliner produced by Boeing.
