This high-resolution model is constructed almost to scale, with dimensions within a couple of percentage points of actual size. It features a detailed exterior, including radio antennas and pitot tubes, as well as finished landing gear with moderate detail. The model comes fully textured, along with all materials and textures, and includes animatable components such as ailerons, flaps, elevators, rudder, landing gear, landing gear doors, and turbines. Suitable for in-flight animations, video, or simulation, it can also be used to populate airport scenes. Available in various formats, this model is based on the Boeing 717-200, a variant of the McDonnell Douglas MD-95 jet commercial airliners produced after Boeing acquired McDonnell Douglas. Designed with a smaller capacity of 106 to 134 passengers, it could carry up to 134 passengers based on passenger exit capability. The standard version had a range of 1430 nautical miles, while the ER or high gross weight version featured two auxiliary tanks for a range of 2060 nautical miles. However, competition from Embraer and Bombardier Regional Jets led to reduced sales, resulting in canceled orders and ultimately the closure of production. Powered by a pair of 20,000 lbf or 21,000 lbf thrust JT8D-217C or JT8D-219 engines, the Boeing 717 was the last narrow single-aisle jetliner produced by Boeing.
