The Boeing 717-200 was a variant of the McDonnell Douglas MD-95 produced after Boeing acquired McDonnell Douglas. Designed for smaller capacities of 106 to 134 passengers, it could accommodate up to 134 passengers based on passenger exit capability. The standard version had a range of 1,430 nautical miles, while the high gross weight variant boasted an extended range of 2,060 nautical miles with two auxiliary tanks. The 717-model number was borrowed from the old KC-135 tankers, which were numbered Boeing model 717-100. In production from 1999 to 2006, these aircraft faced reduced sales due to competition from Embraer and Bombardier Regional Jets, leading to order cancellations and eventual production closure. Powered by pairs of 20,000 lbf or 21,000 lbf thrust JT8D-217C/JT8D-219 engines, the Boeing 717 was the last narrow single-aisle jetliner produced by Boeing.
