The Boeing 717-200 was a variant of the McDonnell Douglas MD-95 jet commercial airliners produced after Boeing's acquisition of McDonnell Douglas. Designed for smaller capacities, it could carry up to 134 passengers maximum based on passenger exit capability. The standard version had a range of 1430 nautical miles, while the high gross weight (ER) variant featured auxiliary tanks for an extended range of 2060 nmi. The Boeing 717-200 was rebranded from the old KC-135 tankers, which were numbered as Boeing Model 717-100. In production from 1999 to 2006, competition from Embraer and Bombardier Regional Jets led to reduced sales and eventual cancellation of orders, ending production. Powered by a pair of 20,000 lbf or 21,000 lbf thrust JT8D-217C or JT8D-219 engines, the Boeing 717 was the last narrow single-aisle jetliner produced by Boeing.
