The Boeing 717-200 was a variant of McDonnell Douglas MD-95 aircrafts after Boeing's acquisition of the latter. It had a smaller passenger capacity of 106 to 134 passengers, with a maximum of 134 based on exit capability. The standard version had a range of 1430 nautical miles, while the ER (high gross weight) version, equipped with auxiliary tanks, boasted a range of 2060 nautical miles. The Boeing 717-model number was borrowed from old KC-135 tankers. They were in production from 1999 to 2006. However, the Embraer and Bombardier Regional Jets' competition led to many order cancellations and ultimately, the closure of its production. Powered by either a pair of 20,000 lbf or 21,000 lbf thrust JT8D-217C or JT8D-219 engines, the Boeing 717 was the last narrow single-aisle jetliner produced by Boeing.
