The Boeing 717-200 was a variant of the McDonnell Douglas MD-95 jet commercial airliners after Boeing acquired McDonnell Douglas. Designed with a smaller capacity of 106 to 134 passengers, it could accommodate up to 134 passengers based on passenger exit capability. The standard version had a range of 1430 nautical miles, while the high gross weight variant extended this to 2060 nmi with auxiliary tanks. This aircraft replaced the Boeing model 717-100 from old KC-135 tankers. In production from 1999 until 2006, competition from Embraer and Bombardier Regional Jets led to reduced sales and cancellation of orders, ultimately leading to its closure. Powered by a pair of JT8D-217C or JT8D-219 engines delivering 20,000 lbf or 21,000 lbf thrust, respectively, the Boeing 717 was the last narrow single-aisle jetliner produced by Boeing.
