The Boeing 717-200 was a variant of the McDonnell Douglas MD-95 jet commercial airliners after Boeing acquired McDonnell Douglas. It had a smaller passenger capacity of 106 to 134 and could carry up to 134 passengers based on exit capability. The standard version had a range of 1,430 nautical miles, while the high gross weight variant could reach 2,060 nmi with two auxiliary tanks. Boeing rebranded the aircraft by using the old KC-135 tanker's model number (717-100). In production from 1999 to 2006, competition from Embraer and Bombardier Regional Jets led to cancelled orders and eventual closure of productions. The 717 was powered by a pair of 20,000 lbf or 21,000 lbf thrust JT8D-217C/JT8D-219 engines. It marked the end of narrow single-aisle jetliner production for Boeing.
