The Boeing 717-200 was a variant of McDonnell Douglas MD-95 jet commercial airliners after Boeing acquired the company. Designed with a smaller capacity (106-134 passengers), it could accommodate up to 134 passengers based on exit capability. The standard model had a range of 1,430 nautical miles, while the high gross weight version, equipped with auxiliary tanks, offered a range of 2,060 nautical miles. The 717's name was derived from old KC-135 tankers, which were Boeing model 717-100. Produced from 1999 to 2006, the 717 faced reduced sales due to competition from Embraer and Bombardier Regional Jets, leading to order cancellations and eventual production closure. Powered by General Electric JT8D-217C or JT8D-219 engines with 20,000 lbf or 21,000 lbf thrust, respectively, the Boeing 717 was the last narrow single-aisle jetliner produced by Boeing.
