The model is available in several formats. The Boeing 717-200 was a variant of the MD-95 series produced by Boeing after acquiring McDonnell Douglas. It had seating capacity from 106 to 134 passengers and a standard range of 1,430 nautical miles, extendable to 2,060 nmi with auxiliary tanks on the ER version. The 717 model number was a rebranding from old KC-135 tankers. In production between 1999 and 2006, it faced competition from Embraer and Bombardier Regional Jets, leading to reduced sales and eventual cancellation of orders, ceasing production. Powered by either 20,000 lbf or 21,000 lbf thrust JT8D-217C/JT8D-219 engines, the 717 was Boeing's last narrow single-aisle jetliner.
