As the first four-engine Boeing airliner, it evolved from the B-17C heavy bomber, sharing identical wings, tail, stabilizers, engines, and landing gear. The fuselage boasted an aerodynamic circular design for efficient pressurization, with a width of over 12 feet. Designed as a luxurious aircraft in 1935, it was the epitome of innovation and could cruise routinely at 20,000 feet, reducing weather delays and flying above adverse conditions.
