The Boeing 307 was a pioneering airliner that introduced cabin pressurization for flights above 10,000 feet, making it the first four-engine airliner. Sharing identical wings, tail, stabilizers, engines, and landing gear with the B-17C bomber, the Boeing 307's fuselage featured an aerodynamic circular shape for efficient pressurization. Wide at over 12 feet, this luxurious airliner was state of the art in 1935. Capable of cruising at 20,000 feet, it experienced fewer weather delays and could fly above inclement weather. As the first airliner requiring a flight engineer, it carried 33 passengers.
