As the first airliner with cabin pressurization, the Boeing 307 allowed flights above 10,000 feet, a capability made possible by its four-engine design derived from the B-17C bomber. Its identical components include wings, tail, stabilizers, engines, and landing gear. The innovative fuselage, with a low drag, aerodynamic circular shape, facilitated efficient cabin pressurization, offering a spacious 12-foot wide cabin. Designed for luxury, it was state-of-the-art in 1935 and could cruise at 20,000 feet for fewer weather delays and better flight above adverse conditions. As a first, the aircraft required a flight engineer and carried 33 passengers.
