Body-Solid weight stack silencer
thingiverse
This is a centring ring that I created to eliminate the noise caused by the weight stack of my Body-Solid G6B Home Gym. During operation, I move the top of the weight stack and with the pin, I can add additional alloy weights as needed. The issue that I encountered is that the movement of the weights sometimes generates a loud noise. After conducting some tests, I discovered that the metal rod can move freely in the hole of the metal weights and will occasionally touch the edge, producing a "metal-on-metal" sound that I find unpleasant. To centre the metal rod within the stack, I found that it is sufficient to align the rod with the first plate. This prevents the metal rod from touching other plates and significantly reduces the noise generated during operation of the device. Some observations about the design: The hole in the center is a precise fit for the metal rod, which is necessary to maintain the ring's position when operating the machine without additional weights. There are no overhanging parts, so this design can be printed without any issues.
