Body-Centered Cubic Unit Cell Truncated

Body-Centered Cubic Unit Cell Truncated

thingiverse

This is a prototype of a three-dimensional representation of a body-centered cubic unit cell, showcasing how both whole and partial atoms can coexist within the cell itself. Designed with educators in mind for use in chemistry or materials science classrooms, this model offers students an engaging visual understanding of crystal structures. By printing multiple copies, it's also possible to visually demonstrate how these individual units combine to form a larger, extended lattice pattern. The recommended settings for printing include 2 shells and a moderate infill percentage (10%) accompanied by a base layer to ensure stability. Support features have been strategically added at key points within the model where material is in contact with local depressions. Upon completion of the print, be sure to carefully trim away these supports using cutting wire. Additional connecting components such as small cylinders were deliberately included to facilitate stronger attachment between separate spheres.
