Bodum Bistro Grinder Burr Holder (Upgrade)
thingiverse
The injection molded plastic burr holder (retainer ring) for the Bodum Bistro coffee grinder is a woefully inadequate design. Its weak/thin clip will inevitably give way to the relentless vibration and stress of grinding, rendering it useless. This upgrade seeks to rectify this glaring flaw. After scrutinizing other designs on thingiverse, I concluded that they were nothing more than carbon copies of the original, saddled with the same inherent shortcomings - including features designed exclusively for injection molding. Undeterred by these limitations, I started from scratch, crafting a new design that prioritizes ease of 3D printing, enhanced strength, and a finer grind size suited to espressos. Observe how this part is deliberately printed flat, devoid of unnecessary complexity, with reinforced clips that leverage the grinder burr as their anchor when installed - thereby redistributing the load/stress to the metal itself, thus obviating the high bending stress that dooms the original design.\r\n\r\nBelieve me... I'm an engineer.
