In Buddhism, a bodhisattva is an enlightened being who has achieved great wisdom. Traditionally, a bodhisattva is any individual who, driven by immense compassion, has cultivated bodhicitta - a spontaneous aspiration to attain Buddhahood for the benefit of all sentient beings. According to Tibetan Buddhist teachings, a Bodhisattva is one of four sublime states that humans can attain in life (the others being an Arhat, Buddha, or Pratyekabuddha). The term bodhisattva has evolved over time, with early Indian Buddhism using it specifically to refer to the Buddha's previous lives.[3][4] The Jatakas, which are stories of his past lives, depict various attempts by the bodhisattva to embody qualities like selflessness and morality. In Buddhist art, the bodhisattva is a popular subject. This object is part of "Scan The World".
