Bodgie the Little Quadrocopter

Bodgie the Little Quadrocopter

thingiverse

This fully parametric, printable quadrocopter frame design was created using Inventor, allowing for a customizable build with a motor-to-motor distance of 160-260mm and propeller sizes ranging from 101.6mm to 177.8mm. The initial draft aimed to place electronics in the hub area but was later revised, placing them on top for better weight distribution and easier wire routing. Revision 2 features thinner arms and a reduced minimum thickness, with the aim of achieving over 1kg of thrust for improved performance. Key dimensions include motor-to-motor distance, arm width, arm height, mounting square, hub square, pinch gap, power thickness, battery width, and battery thickness, with structural cover as the minimum thickness. The user has yet to fly this quadrocopter but is open to suggestions for further improvements. Electronics include an Arduino nano control unit, "All in one" sensor board, and a Fly Sky 6-channel receiver, with drive system choices dependent on weight and prop diameter. Inventor files and STL files are available for printing, requiring calibration or filing for precise fits. Assembled parts include 4 arms, hub top and bottom, power layer, battery mount, 2 landing gears, with epoxy used to secure bullet connectors for the power distribution circuit. The user is also willing to design a more standard 4-bolt motor mount version if requested.
