prusaprinters
First off i would like to give a huge shout out to the maker community the bob remixes including OttO have been amazing to see, i never dreamed of this sort of response. So BoBotto is a remix of all the great remixes. I've taken arms from the humanoid style robots and added them to the otto design then tweaked the appearance to resemble the OG bob the biped robotWhile i owe many people credit for their base work and inspirations, that list would be miles long.My name is Kevin "The Bobfather" Biagini and i am the creator of BoB the biped. I started tinkering way back when and haven't stopped. I have experience in 3d design, fabrication, and electrical circuits.Project InspirationThis project is inspired by the OttO project and all the other great BoB remixes. It came to life because a very simple reason, the contest was open and may daughter wanted a new BoB to build and call her own. so i took the great OttO platform and remixed it to look like my BoB robot, changing up his lines and using parts of the feet and legs to give him arms (a request i've always gotten)..Bill of Materials(BOM)Here there is a list of the materials you will need to build BoBOttO.1x Arduino NANO Shield I/O1x USB-A to Mini-USB Cable1x PING Ultrasound sensor (HC-SR04 head file coming soon)6x 9Gram servos either plastic or metal geared24x Female/Female Jumper Wires1x 800Mah 7.4V lipo (4xAA battery holder will also work)8x BoBOttO 3D printed parts1x Small Phillipis screwdriver5x 3mm LED (optional for mouth) FabricationWhat digital fabrication machine is the 3D design to be fabricated with?BoBotto was printed on a prusa i3 in plaThe legs and arms where printed standing tall with the flat closed ends on the print bed.No sanding or filing is required as long as your printer is semi decently calibrated.3D DesignWhat CAD software did you use?The Bobotto remix was done using the stp files and SolidworksLayer Height: 0.22mmWall Thickness: 0.8mmTop/Bottom Thickness: 0.6mmInfill Density: 10%Printing Temp: 210cElectronics and programmingBobboto uses the cheap and easy to get Arduino nano with shield.testing is being done with a Pi zero W and servo shield. using the google api bobotto could become very interactive.Bobotto is programmed using wiring in the arduino IDEAs a good practice you should check your electronics and software in your computer, before assembling all robot to avoid having to disassemble the whole robot to fix something!Assembly InstructionsOne of the best parts about BoBotto is the ease of assembly. BoBotto goes together exactly like Otto does. For instructions check out Otto DIY!We invested lots of time and resources to provide open source code, software and hardware, please support this project by just giving us a ❤ Like and share and you are welcome to be a part of this friendly community of robot builders, teachers and makers.
