"Bobby Car" Replacement Steering Wheel
thingiverse
This is a replacement steering wheel I modeled just for fun - it fits the steering shaft of the well known plastic baby sit-on-top car of which my grandson inherited a shabby variant of from a cousin just before Christmas.A first version I printed immediately got a broken spoke where the neat round cutouts weaken them too much for a plastic part, so I decided to strengthen the spokes by giving them a T-shaped cross section and leave the cutouts only as decorative elements. The wheel comes in three parts so it allows to be printed flat on the build platform without the risk of breaking it off in some plane parallel to the build platform (happened to me, too).Bolts & Nuts are standard - see assembly STEP file.Yet missing: A horn pushbutton to be inserted into the hub where an airbag would sit :-)I printed with a carbon filled filament (formfutura) ... I would like to model as a 2K part with a TPU envelope of the steering wheel rim. Extruding soft material is not an easy task - Im in the process of optimizing a cheap Chinese IDEX printer modified using FleXion Extruders.
