Bobblehead Racer

Bobblehead Racer is a skin made to fit the Basic Walker and turn it into a Bobblehead Racing Walker together with the top-hatted racing driver bobblehead.

Video:

Racing highlight

Requirements.

In addition to the printed parts you will require:

One of the springs from: https://www.printables.com/model/224965-lincoln-printer-bobblehead/files

A working Basic Walker model including batteries. Remove the power switch, you will replace it with Bobblehead Racer's own switch.

A 13mm x 8mm x 33 mm toggle switch.
This is a common size of panel switch and is available from many sources.

10cm hookup wire

You will also need basic soldering equipment or some alternative hookup method.

Print and check the parts.

The example here was printed in PLA although any rigid plastic would work.

All prototypes illustrated were printed on a Prusa i3 Mk3 with a 0.4mm nozzle.

Print everything at 0.2mm layer height.

You may like to insert a colour change at level to change the color of the racing driver's top hat. Other bobbleheads published here will also fit if you prefer.

Post Print Part Preparation:

The switch is placed conveniently for the driver's right hand. The socket will print with a single layer of bridging closing the hole - this is to give support during the print. The switch can be pushed straight through this layer but it will sit better if the bridging is first cleared with a needle file.

Fitting:

Connect the switch to the Basic Walker's circuit with about 10cm of light wire. Screw the switch into the socket on the Bobblehead Racer body.

Remove the screws from the battery box of the Basic Walker. Align the Bobblehead Racer body with the battery box and screw both together to the top of the Basic Walker. Take care not to trap any wires in the gears.

Now attach your Bobblehead Driver; use one of the standard bobblead springs from: https://www.printables.com/model/224965-lincoln-printer-bobblehead/files

Switch on and watch the Bobblehead Racer go...
